2 Day / 1 Night Tour

We are able to offer you a tour to Pulau Tiga - better known as "Survivor Island", which was the setting of the original American CBS Television network series SURVIVOR. The island is located at the Southern end of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park off the coast of Kota Kinabalu, the capital of the Malaysian state of Sabah. The island is actually far from being the deserted island depicted in the television series.

Needless to say, you will not have to be a Survivor in order to enjoy the tour. The trip departs Kota Kinabalu daily, and allows you almost two full days on the island.

The 2 Day/1 Night Tour itinerary is as follows, with additional days available on the island if required:

Day 01

  • 07.00 hrs : Depart Kota Kinabalu for 2-hour overland journey to the fishing village of Kuala Penyu, The road heads South West, following the Sabah coastline, with good views of mangrove forests and sandy beaches. The sight of the old car ferry on the Penyu River
    signifies your arrival, and from here it is a 40 minute boat ride to the tropical island of Pulau Tiga. Upon arrival at Pulau Tiga jetty you will be met and escorted to Reception for your check-in. Individual chalets provide comfortable bedrooms with private bathrooms. An adjacent restaurant supplies 3 generous meals a day, plus a limitless supply of tea, coffee and cordial drinks. Have a quick swim before lunch is served in the restaurant. 
  • 12.00 hrs : Buffet lunch will be served at the island restaurant.
  • 13.30 hrs : Assemble in front of the reception area and proceed on to the jungle trail to the Mud Volcano which takes an approximately 60 minutes to walk. Along the trail, you can view the lowland forest and the unique Megapode Bird.
  • At the Volcano area, the mud is seen to bubble up from the earth, and provides a popular spot for a full mud bath! You can immerse yourself in the Sulphuric Mud. This mud is not hot, it actually has a cooling effect on your skin. The mud can be rinsed off by having a late afternoon swim, and at the same time you can enjoy watching the sun set off the coast of Borneo.

    A short run to a nearby beach provides a well needed wash, and the rest of the afternoon is free for further exploration or snorkelling on the diverse reef close to you chalet. Masks, snorkels and full diving gear are available for rental from the well stocked dive shack.

  • 19.30 hrs : Buffet dinner in the park restaurant. After dinner you may stroll around the beachfront. Overnight at chalet.

Day2

  • 08.00 hrs : Breakfast at the restaurant and then free at leisure and swimming on the reef. There are many trails that can be explored in the area, or you may arrange for an optional tour to the nearby Snake Island, or perhaps a cruise around Pulau Tiga by boat.
  • 12.00 hrs : The boat departs for Kuala Penyu. Lunch is taken in a local restaurant on the way back to KK.
  • 16.00 hrs : Arrive at Kota Kinabalu.

The price for the tour, based on a minimum of two passengers is $A460.00 per person.

The price includes return transfers from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu, return boat transfers, meals as indicated above, overnight accommodation on the island, and a tour guide (shared with other guests)

The optional tour to Snake Island is $A55.00 per person, however, this is dependent on weather conditions, and is at the discretion of the park warden! It may be worthwhile booking the tour once you are on the island.

The accommodation has been recently constructed, and is of a good standard and comfortable.   Extended stays can be arranged on request.
