Miri City and Lambir Hills National Park Tour

Depart from your hotel in the morning for the native market. As you walk among the stalls, you will be introduced to a variety of edible plants from the jungle displayed at this colourful market. A few streets further towards the city centre, discover the fish market and the Chinese Temple.

Continue to Canada Hill, a limestone ridge overlooking Miri town. There, pay a respectful visit to the "Grand Old Lady", which is the first oil well which spudded by Shell far back in August 1910. Adjacent to it is the Petroleum museum with a nice view of the city. Driving down to the seashore, share the secrets of success of the industrialists of Miri, as your guide points out at their magnificent villas.

Leave the busy city behind as you drive to Lambir Hills National Park which is a half-hour drive from Miri. Lambir Hills cover an area of 6952 hectares. Declared as a national park in 1975, Lambir is rich in bio-diversity and is visible from Miri as a chain of steep sandstone hills bound by rugged cliffs. The higher ridges and slopes (up to the peak at 450m) are covered by heath forest, while the lower slopes and valleys are dominated by huge strands of mixed dipterocarp forest. The ground flora consists of an unusual variety of palm trees, which give an exotic feel to the park. There are also more than 100 bird species in the park. Due to its rugged terrain, the park has a number of small but beautiful waterfalls, ideal locations for cooling down and enjoying the surrounding area.

Have lunch at the park canteen before you follow the trails and discover the diversity of plants of this rainforest, considered as one of the richest in the world.

Retrace your journey to Miri, make a stop at Taman Selera, a popular spot located along the coast of South China Sea, and leisurely sip your drink before returning to your hotel (or transfer to Miri airport for an evening flight to your next destination). (Lunch included)
