Bako National Park Safari

Duration - 4 Days/3 night

Day 1 An early departure from Kuching. Drive about 35 minutes to Bako Village. Bako National Park is the oldest National Park in Sarawak. From the village, take about a 25-minute boat ride (depending on the tide) to the park situated in a peninsula. Bako takes its name from the mangrove forest which surrounds the coastal region of Sarawak. Bako is one of the best places in Sarawak to see wildlife in a natural surrounding. Check in at the park chalets. There will be hiking through jungle trails, sunsets, and swimming in the sea by secluded beaches. Overnight at the park chalets. (Lunch and Dinner included)

The various types of animals that are commonly spotted at Bako include the proboscis monkeys, silver leaf monkeys, long tail macaques, wild boars, monitor lizards, and numerous species of birds. Tropical rainforest ranges from mangrove to kerangas (heath forest), tropical swamp vegetation, cliff vegetation and beach vegetation. There are several trails inside the park depending on level of fitness and interest. There is a possibility to swim in the warm waters of the South China Sea by one of the secluded beaches.

Day 2

After breakfast, proceed for bird watching and observing proboscis monkeys. Lunch at Tajor Waterfall. More bird watching and wildlife viewing will follow in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the park chalet. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

Day 3

Spend the morning bird watching then hike to the kerangas plateau. Pitcher plants, orchids, antplants and a variety of unusual and unique forest vegetation can be spotted. Lunch at a secluded beach. More bird watching and wildlife viewing activities in the afternoon. Overnight at the park chalet. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

Day 4

Following breakfast, a final hike on one of the many trails or revisit one of your favorite trails from the previous days for a more detailed exploration. Return to Kuching in the early afternoon. (Schedule may depend on tide.) (Breakfast and Lunch included)

Note that this trip may be shortened to 3 days if required.
