Mengkak Longhouse Tour

The Mengkak longhouse is located on the bank of the Engkari River, which is only a 45 minute ride by longboat from the Hilton Batang Ai Longhouse Resort. You will make a first stop at a fish farm on the edge of the lake where the local people are farming a local fresh water fish - the red Telapia.

Continue on to the Mengkak Longhouse jetty. You will then visit the longhouse, meet with its inhabitants and share a moment of their day, either during the morning or the afternoon. Feel the pace of the rural life in the interior of Sarawak, as you share a glass of tuak (rice wine) and cultural performance with your Iban hosts on the Ruai - the communal enclosed verandah common to all Longhouses. Retrace your journey back to the Batang Ai Resort. (Lunch included)
