The Grand Old Lady on Canada Hill will be seen on your Miri City tour with Borneo Tour Specialists

You will be picked up from your Miri accommodation. The city tour will start with a drive to Canada Hill overlooking the city. You will be briefed on the historical development of Miri City, which developed rapidly from a small village in the 1800s to the very cosmopolitan and modern city that it is today. This has been largely due to the influence of oil discovery when Malaysia’s first oil well was spudded by Shell in 1910. This oil well now known as The Grand Old Lady and sits as a relic on Canada Hill. Driving down to the seashore, share the secrets of success of the industrialists of Miri, as your guide points out at their magnificent villas.

Continue your tour to the native market or "Tamu". As you walk among the stalls of this colourful market, you will be introduced to a variety of edible local vegetables, fruits and foods brought in by the natives from the jungle, and local farmers from around Miri. A few streets further towards the city centre, discover the fish market and the Chinese Temple.

The full day tour will generally follow a similar itinerary, with the inclusion of Kuala Baram where you will explore the Miri Crocodile Farm and also the ASEAN Bridge which links Miri and Brunei. On your way back to the City, you will stop at the largest Taoist Temple in S.E Asia.

Miri has also built numerous recreational parks for its population with Miri City Fan being one of the most popular with the local population. You will make a stop at Miri Heritage Centre where you will be able to shop for local handicrafts. A lunch stop will be made at a local restaurant before heading to Tamu Muhibbah (the local market).

Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. [Includes lunch]
