Drive north passing-by scenic paddy fields, rubber plantations and native houses with majestic Mount Kinabalu as the background. Arrive at Kota Belud, the rice bowl of Sabah. Try your bargaining skills at the open market and observe the natives engaging in trade. Chickens, goats, ducks, fish and crabs are sold side by side with handicraft and foodstuff. Drive south to Mengkabong water village, home to the Bajau fishermen whose houses are built on stilts over the water. Explore the village on foot to feel the authentic lifestyle of fishermen before you retrace your route to Kota Kinabalu. (Lunch included)
