Kinabalu Park and Poring Hot Springs

Drive 2 hours overland through rice paddy fields and Dusun villages over the ridges of the Crocker Range to the foothills of Mt. Kinabalu at 1500 metres. It is a veritable treasure trove for botanists and bird watchers. On the trip from KK, you will be able to experience spectacular scenery as you cross the ridges of the Croker Range.

En route you will get a chance to photograph the mountain from a number of angles (ask the driver to stop for you!) and also to visit a local market at Nabalu village, located near the base of the mountain, to savour local fruits and to bargain prices for the handicrafts. At Kinabalu Park World Heritage Site, visit the Education Centre and Mountain Garden, home to various species of the flowering rhododendrons, carnivorous pitcher plants, orchids, ferns, oak trees and birds.

Continue your journey 40 km to Poring located at an altitude of only 450 m. Explore tropical rainforest among the jungle trail leading to the treetop canopy walkways suspended up to 40 metres above the forest floor between giant Mengaris trees. Return to your hotel in KK in the late afternoon. [includes lunch]

Please bring along drinking water bottle, insect repellent, hat, walking shoes, light raincoat and swimming attire.
