You will be met on arrival at Balikpapan's Sepinggan airport, and transfer immediately to Loa Janan on the lower Mahakam River, where you will board a comfortable house boat for exciting tour on the Mahakam River which is like a multi- lane highway to the interior of Kalimantan, complete with many riverside towns and floating road houses.

Day 2 MUARA MUNTAI - MANCONG  

After breakfast on boat, you will make a stop at Muara Muntai, a town of the Kutai people, to enable you to observe the way of the inhabitants as they go about their life in this town with streets and footpaths made of hardwood planks. Continue the trip by motorized canoe over Jempang Lake, passing beautiful scenery along the river banks, passing the beautiful panorama of the Ohong River where you can observe proboscis monkeys in the trees by the river, before arriving at Mancong. On arrival a welcome ceremony will be performed for you by the local Benuaq Dayak people in front of their ceremonial longhouse. After the performance and an inspection of the village, return to the house boat and cruise up to Long Iram. Lunch box, dinner and overnight on the boat. 

Day 3 LONG IRAM - RUKUN DAMAI  

Breakfast on boat in the morning before a visit to Long Iram, then continue the trip to Rukun Damai by boat if the water level is favourable. A stop will be made at Datah Bilang to see the houses with beautiful carvings and observe the way of life of the people of the Dayak Kenyah tribe, which is well known for their earings which cause the ear lobes to stretch, and tatoos. Continue from Datah Bilang up the Mahakam River to Rukun Damai where you will arrive in the late evening. Meals and overnight on the house boat or at a long house. 

Day 4 RUKUN DAMAI - MELAK  

Breakfast on the boat or a the long house. You will then have the opportunity to observe the Kenyah Dayak and Punan people going about their daily routine at Rukun Damai and Long Merah. It will also be a good opportunity to enjoy Dayak dances in the village, before returning to the house boat or long boat, to travel down the river to the important trading town of Melak. Meals and overnight on the house boat. 

Day 5 MELAK - EHENG - TREK - KERSIK LUWAY -TENGGARAONG  

Breakfast on boat then a full day excursion by jeep to visit the Old communal Tunjung Dayak longhouse at Eheng village, which is a centre for magnificent wood carving. You may also have an opportunity for a bit of jungle trekking to observe the huge trees of the lowland rainforest. Return to Kersik Luway to visit the Black Orchid Forest. The rare "Black Orchid" blossoms here between April and December. There are also hundreds of other orchid species on display here. From Kersik Luway, cruise back down the river to Tenggarong. Picnic lunch, dinner and overnight on the boat. 

Day 6 TENGGARONG - LOA JANAN - BALIKPAPAN  

Breakfast on your boat prior to visiting the royal cemetery, Museum of Kutai Kertanegara and the remains of the Sultans Palace which is now the State Museum of Mulawarman at the Kutai centre of Tenggarong, which was once the seat of the Kutai sultinate. Afterwards, you will return to the boat and head further down the river to Loa Janan. After lunch, transfer to Balikpapan where you will spend the night.

Day 7 HOTEL - AIRPORT 

Breakfast at hotel, morning free, till transfer to the airport for your next destination.
