You will be met on arrival at Balikpapan's Sepinggan airport, and transfer immediately to Loa Janan on the lower Mahakam River, where you will board a comfortable house boat for exciting tour on the Mahakam River which is like a multi- lane highway to the interior of Kalimantan, complete with many riverside towns and floating road houses.

After breakfast on boat, you will make a stop at Muara Muntai, a town of the Kutai people, to enable you to observe the way of the inhabitants as they go about their life in this town with streets and foot paths made of hardwood planks. Continue the trip by motorized canoe over Jempang Lake, passing beautiful scenery along the river banks, before arriving at Mancong. On arrival a welcome ceremony will be performed for you by the Benuaq Dayak people in front of their ceremonial longhouse. After the performance and an inspection of the village, you will travel on to Tanjung Isuy where you will spend the night in a Longhouse. Picnic lunch, dinner and overnight at long house.

Breakfast at the long house before spending a bit of time observing village life. Return to the house boat and cruise up to the important trading town of Melak. A stop will be made en route at Minta village, to watch the local people making palm sugar, before continuing on to Melak. Meals and overnight on boat.
