MATAKING ISLAND REEF DIVE RESORT

The Reef Dive Resort at Mataking Island, Malaysia, is one of the newest dive spots in the Celebes Sea, and islocated just 40 minutes from Semporna.

Luxurious accommodation is provided with on Mataking and the diving is enchanting. The Alice Channel which is about 100 meters deep connects Mataking to Pulau Sipadan which just an 80 minutes trip away.

Once back on land, after your day's diving, the night life can be exciting. There are fire flies all over the place at night. Green and Hawksbill turtles come up to lay their eggs in the sands of Mataking Island. During the day, bask on the snow white sandy beach and enjoy the sight of the island's coconut crabs scurrying up the trees. You can also take a walk while listening to the birds singing in the exotic gardens of the resort.

If you prefer a bird's eye view of Mataking, climb up the King's Watchtower and enjoy the breathtaking sight. If you are more adventurous, take a few friends and explore the lushness of the tropical island vegetation or have some fun playing beach volleyball & beach soccer, taking up some traditional handicrafts, cooking or dancing lessons. You can also take the chance to re-enact Moses' miraculous crossing of the Red sea by taking a stroll down the 1km sandbar that connects Mataking and Mataking Kecil at low tide. The water literally splits in half and you don't even have to wave your hands! Mother Nature does it all for you.

The Reef boasts 8 executive chalets and 24 deluxe rooms in traditional architecture offering simply elegant and exquisite accommodation for up to 70 pax in a serene and cozy set up. The air-conditioned rooms have attached sea view bathrooms and balcony. You can also stay connected with those who are a world away from you as internet services are available at Mataking. The resort also has satellite TV with more than 30 channels for your viewing pleasure. All guest rooms are equipped with air-conditioners and the following features:

Mataking has also been very popular with Japanese divers.

Dive packages includes the following:

• 3 boat dive combinations per day at Mataking, Mataking Kecil, Pandanan and Bohayan with provision of diving weights, weight belt, tanks and dive guide (no diving permitted within 24 hrs of departure flight).
• Unlimited house reef diving at Mataking.
• Guests stayiing for a minimum of 5 days/ 4 nights in a group of 6 or more are entitled to do a day diving trip to Sipadan island with no extra boat fees charge. Sabah Parks Levy not included.(RM 40 per person per day) Subject to SABAH PARKS PERMIT APPROVAL and also weather conditions.
• Morning shore dive begins at 0600 hrs (required to exit the water by 0700 hrs)
• Sunset shore dive begins at 1700 hrs (open water divers need to exit the water by 1830 hrs)
• Night dives are shore dives from the Dive Centre platform and are conducted from 1900 hrs to 2100 hrs.

  Divers who wish to night dive must show proof of minimum certification of Advance Open Water in the form of certification cards and/or log books documenting such dives.

Peak season surcharge applies to all accommodation during the month of August, and 28 April to 06 May, 2011 - 10% surcharge for double or triple share accommodation.

Surcharge for single travellers requiring single occupancy equivalent to 150% of rate for one person on twin share basis.

Single travellers may need to pay an additional transfer surcharge of $450. The necessity of this surcharge will be confirmed prior to issue of final documentation. In many instances, the surcharge will not be required, as you will often not be the only person being transferred.

A non-refundable reservation deposit of 30% of the Mataking package price is to be paid on confirmation of booking

Full payment for the Mataking portion of your trip is to be paid a minimum of 40 days prior to the start of your dive trip.
