Seria is at the epicenter of Brunei's wealth from oil and gas. It was not until 1931 that the first commercial well delivered oil, and now Seria remains the centre for onshore as well as off shore drilling.

This tour will introduce you to Brunei's significant natural resource. The gas and oil that underpins the country's financial stability, as well as the forest resources that are so carefully managed.

The tour involves a 1.5 hour drive (approximately) to Seria (about 65 km from Bandar Seri Begawan), and return. This is a pleasant drive on mostly dual lane smooth highway in a country setting. You will see a variety of rural settings and lifestyles, as well as the Royal Polo Field and the palace of the Second Wife of the Sultan.

You will stop half way at a popular local cafe for morning tea. Lunch will be in a local cafe in Seria. On the return trip, you will visit the Empire Hotel, and can make time for an optional High Tea. For many clients, the highlights of this tour are the Forestry Museum at Sungai Liang (learn about the history and development of forestry operations and conservation), and the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre at Seria. This has numerous interactive displays for adults and children. Your guide will outline features along the way, and describe the role which the oil and gas industry plays in Brunei, and how this differs from neighbouring Sabah and Sarawak. There are opportunities to stop at a "nodding donkey" oil pump, see the "Billionth Barrel Monument", view the BSP main office, and see the ex-pat accommodation and recreation facilities.

You may also get answers to that eternal question of "what will happen when the oil runs out".

Price includes pick up from inner city hotels and lunch. Entry to OGDC is not included - Bn$5 per adult and Bn$2 per child.

Note that the Forestry Museum is closed on Friday, Sunday and public holidays,and the OGDC is closed on Monday and some public holidays. Please check with us for confirmation of opening times.
