MANGROVE RIVER SAFARI - EVENING

 Just minutes away from the centre of Bandar Seri Begawan are isolated mangroves where nature still dominates. This mangrove environment still supports a diversity of wildlife close to the city; another unique feature of Brunei.

The tour departs by boat at 15.15 hrs. from Jalan Regency. First pass by to the water village of Kampung Ayer, where you will explore on foot along the walkways, and also have afternoon tea with local snacks. Continue past the Previous Sultan's palace, and also the present palace to the mangrove forests just upstream.

Motor or paddle quietly along the narrow mangrove channels, stopping to listen and look for the bird and animal life. Your driver/guide will explain the mangrove ecology and the plant and animal life which this tangle of mangroves, vines, palms and trees supports.

Most days you will see Proboscis Monkeys, Macaques, birds and marine life. Some days you will also see crocodiles, monitor lizards, and other larger animals.

Around dusk you will watch the spectacular arrival of large flocks of Egrets as they return to roost for the night.

Return through the centre of Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) to see the town, mosques and water village as the lights come on at dusk. You will also see the Sultan's Palace, with sunset photo opportunities. Continue downstream while your guide highlights the features and activities along the Brunei River which contributed to the history of the nation and its heritage.

Enjoy dinner beside the river at around 19.00 hrs.

Depart for your hotel by vehicle at around 20.15 hrs
