ULU TEMBURONG NATIONAL PARK - Overnight tour
Tour Code TMB-ONNP This tour is
an introduction to Brunei’s unique wilderness rainforest region. The Ulu
Temburong National Park is protected and preserved for the benefit of Borneo’s
wildlife, scientific research, and low impact visitors. Staying in the National
Park allows visitors to truly experience this amazing primary rainforest when
the natural inhabitants are most active; at dawn and dusk.
Trained
local guides will help you experience this unique attraction, and learn the most
from your immersion in a true rainforest.
Water Taxi

The trip departs Bandar from
the Jalan Residencey jetty at 14.00 hrs, arriving at Bangar at approximately
14.45 hrs, and getting to the accommodation in the National Park at 17.00 hrs.
You will arrive back in Bandar Seri Begawan at around 16.15 hrs the following
day.
Travel by
local water taxi from Bandar through a network of rivers and channels around the
back of Brunei Bay. Pass by dense mangrove islands and look for wildlife,
including crocodiles, along the way. Vehicle from Bangar to the Rainforest Lodge
at Batang Duri.
Temburong Park HQ

Ride further upstream against the rapids of the Temburong River
this time in traditional longboats, to the National Park. Look for Hornbills,
butterflies, Proboscis Monkeys, Macaques and other wildlife. See Durian and
other fruiting trees. Swim, settle into accommodation, and enjoy the twilight
from the walkways before dinner.
Bunkroom accommodation

National Park accommodation is in four person bunkrooms in the newly completed centre.
Facilities are simple, in keeping with the environmental values. Showers, hot
water, walkways, open deck and dining room. Generator power at night. Meals are
eaten in the open air dining facilities. Usually BBQ dinner and buffet lunch.
Cereal, fruit and cooked food for breakfast.
Canopy Walkway

Early next
morning (up at 05.00 hrs!!) take the 1200 steps to the
Canopy Walkway, and enjoy the panoramic view of dawn -
from in and above the trees - as the jungle comes
alive. Watch for birds, macaques and other wildlife.
River levels
permitting, proceed further upstream on the Temburong
River. Take a short walk along a jungle creek to a waterfall, visit observation
tree houses and use Rapid Riders (heavy duty inflatable mattresses)
to shoot the rapids on the downstream return to the National
Park Centre.
Return
downstream by longboat to Bangar restaurant for
afternoon tea, and clean up. Visit the handicraft centre if time permits. Return
in the water taxi to Bandar Sen Begawan.
(life jackets, helmets and other safety equipment are provided. This
programme involves early starts, walks on long and sometimes slippery pathways,
bumpy boat rides, getting wet, and clambering about. It is, however, well within
