MANGROVE RIVER SAFARI - EVENING   (2 Hours)

 Just minutes away from the centre of Bandar Seri Begawan are isolated mangroves where nature still dominates. This mangrove environment still supports a diversity of wildlife close to the city; another unique feature of Brunei.

Mangrove River Safari

The tour departs at 1700 hrs. First drive past the Previous Sultan’s palace, and continue along the water village, past the present palace to the mangrove forests just upstream.

Motor or paddle quietly along the narrow mangrove channels, stopping to listen and look for the bird and animal life. Our guide will explain the mangrove ecology and the plant and animal life which this tangle of mangroves, vines, palms and trees supports.

Most days we see Proboscis Monkeys, Macaques, birds and marine life. Some days we also see crocodiles, monitor lizards, and other larger animals.

Egrets arriving at Sunset on the Safari

Around dusk you will watch the arrival of large flocks of Egrets as they return to roost for the night. We return on dusk past the Sultan’s Palace, with sunset photo opportunities. Then pass through the centre of Bandar Seri Begawan to see the town and water village with the lights on. Return to Bandar Seri Begawan at 1900 hrs. (drinks and water are included)

There is an Steamboat Dinner (at additional charge) at Portview overlooking the Brunei River and Water Village  if required - tour would then end at around 2030 hrs.
