Off the mystical island of Borneo approximately 300km northwest of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia, lies a little gem within the deep blue sea - a mere speck in the ocean, fondly known as "The Jewel of the Borneo Banks". This is the intriguing Layang Layang Island, a remote and exotic island in the wide ocean of South China Sea which offers undisturbed diving adventure in safe waters away from other popular dive destinations.On this coral-blessed atoll rising from the deep blue of 2,000m lies a modest but complete resort - the Avillion Layang Layang. Designed and built along the concept of a traditional long house, the resort boasts a unique local stay experience enveloped in modern comforts and convenience.
With only the resort on the island, Avillion Layang Layang offers a truly unprecedented “One Island - One Dive Resort” exclusive experience.

The resort is one of the most luxurious diver dedicated resorts in the world and offers 86 rooms in 6 blocks, in categories of Standard, Superior, Deluxe and Suite, all with air-conditioning, private showers T.V., fridge, phone and private verandah. The restaurant with capacity of up to 150, serves Asian and continental specialties. There is also a pool, bar, lounge and souvenir shop, together with a dive centre.
Standard Rooms are designed along the concept of a traditional Sabahan longhouse. The Standard room is a cosy room with rustic feel. With extra large twin beds and ensuite bathroom, the room offers a comfortable and refreshing stay after a day of dive adventure.

Superior Rooms are pleasantly rustic with modern comforts. The rooms have been recently upgraded, and boast a pair of the Avillion signature 250 mm mattresses with plush pillows. Sleep in the comfort of the oversized bed and rise to a refreshing day packed with underwater excitement.

Both the Standard and Superior rooms have an area of just over 28 m2, and come with:
- private verandah,
- twin beds,
- Ensuite bathroom with rain shower,
- Air-conditioning,
- phone,
- tea and coffee making facilities,
- Satellite TV,
Deluxe Rooms are offer a luxury of space in a the well-appointed room. Unwind in the Jacuzzi of the ensuite bathroom before retiring the day into the King bed of Avillion signature 250 mm mattress with airy-feathered pillows for extra comfort.

The deluxe rooms have an area of 65 m2, and come with:
- private verandah,
- Avillion signature King bed,
- Ensuite bathroom with Jacuzzi and rain shower,
- Air-conditioning,
- phone,
- tea and coffee making facilities,
- Satellite TV,
There is nothing to do on Layang Layang but scuba dive. The resort has been established to cater solely for advanced open water divers. There are over 15 dive sites to choose from. The dive boats are comfortable, fast and stable and the boat drivers, dive masters and staff make every dive memorable.
Layang Layang Island Resort also offers conferencing and banqueting facilities which can easily accommodate up to
200 people. The conference rooms cater for company seminars, meetings, conferences and incentive group functions.
Layang Layang is not for the learner diver or even new divers, but is perfectly suited to experienced and advanced divers.

The daily routine is generally something like:
- 07.00 hrs Wake up call, coffee/tea and toast
- 08.00 hrs Off for your first dive of the day
- 09.30 hrs Arrive back at the resort for breakfast
- 11.30 hrs Off for the second dive of the day
- 13.00 hrs Back at the resort for lunch
- 15.00 hrs Final dive of the day
- 16.30 hrs Tea Break
- 18.30 hrs Pre-dinner drinks
- 19.00 hrs Dinner
Rates include:
three dives per day, five meals per day, tanks, weights and belts.
Note: 2 dives on arrival day, 3 dives on subsequent days and 1 dive on day before departure

Dive Centre
The PADI dive centre is headed by certified instructors with a team of qualified dive masters
The fleet of dive boats get you to the dive sites with 10 to 30 minutes
Rental equipment: BCDs, regulators, fins, masks, snorkels, wet suit, dive torch, are all available
PADI dive courses are conducted regularly
Layang Layang Resort is open from March through to August, 2015

The one hour flights to and from Layang Layang are every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday departing KK at 0630 hrs and returning from Layang Layang at 0800 hrs. Flights currently cost $A545 per person including taxes, and are not included in the dive package price below.
